Time is flying by and I see others aging, youth graying, and together fraying. I look to see myself in me and try to be a perfect me. If only she who would look at me would not see the he who was, but the me who can be. Look at us together is a must and true to thee indeed I’ll be. When time has flown our seeds sown, we may be grayed, our bodies aged, we shall remain unfrayed, and be the perfect we could be.

The Price of Freedom

What is the price to be free? What in the end will it cost? I believe that the cost of freedom is our lives, but not our deaths. Death maybe a cost of living a free life, but the true cost of freedom is living free, then again that is the gift of freedom. In order to live free we must not prostitute our selves to sin and slothfulness. The cost of freedom is the continual effort to better our selves, our community, and our country. The price of not paying the cost is loss of freedom. It is our duty to pay the cost of freedom to retain the gifts that it brings. The continual degradation of American society has caused the price of freedom to not be payed, and thus the gifts of freedom are beginning to slip away.

Life is short but it can be too long alone all roads lead where God and our hearts searching for love lead us. Our hearts are the most powerful control muscle in our body causing us to do irrational things. Our heart can sway every notion of sanity from our mind and refute even the soundest logic. Our hearts are also the most tender easy injured with pain that few can see. A pained heart will hide within walls of false emotion. The pain is not just a pain for the person but also for the persons seeking that soul. And the road will lead down a rout that will chisel away the walls and expose the true beauty hidden with in them.

Why is it that when ever you do good things people criticize you, but when you do bad things they excuse you? Why is it that every choice you make people think should be put to a vote? Why is it that you can have you own life it must be approved by the masses? Why can life be choice driven except when you disagree with some one? How can you be right doing some thing one time and do the same the next and be wrong? How is it that when you finally get where you are going people try to pull you back where you were? Why is it that when the rope is the shortest people pull the chair out from under you? How is it that what you feel only matters when it is what other people want you to feel? Why is it when you are skating on thin ice people throw salt out? How can it be that all many people want for you is what they want not what you want? Why are we never smart enough to take care of our selves?

A report on the book “ The Chosen” This book is a particularly interesting book because it shows a Jewish community in the Untied States reaction to the Holocaust, and the great differences in the sects of the Jewish faith. The main characters in this realistically biased fiction are Reuven Malters (from whose view point this book is written), Danny Saunders, Reb Saunders (Danny’s father), and David Malter (Reuven’s father). This story is about the friendship of a Hasidic Jew (Danny), and a Orthodox Jew (Reuven) they meet in the first chapter at a softball game the two are competing in, on different teams,. During the game Danny while batting hits a ball right at the pitcher ,Reuven, who takes it in the face. Reuven is injured and taken to the hospital with a building hatred for Danny. In the hospital Reuven discovers during the ensuing visits with Danny that, Danny is a very deep person and his hatred wanes till there is a budding friendship taking place. Reuven meets Danny’s family and is intrigued with his fathers lack of communication with his son. As months progress and events take place that make Danny’s father discontinue the relationship that has begun between the two boys. Danny, who is expected to take over as reverend after is father passes the position to him, is deep in study of psychology, and not only does not want to take the position, but also does not want to make his father angry with him. Reuven’s fathers ailing heath complicates matters even further; but through it all Reuven discovers things about himself, and about others through the process of being with Danny’s father, and trips to the library with Danny and becomes a better person and a more faithful Jew. My thoughts of this book are top of the line. The focus of the Mr. Potok on the things that are important while being able to highlight the little details are existential. The insight of the writer in the issues of the time of the setting of the book are far above par. Although the book is long; it is consuming and hard to put down as it is structured to leave you begging to turn the next page. Like all great books “The Chosen” had to come to an electrifying end as must the report so if you really want to know more choose “The Chosen” by Chaim Potok and be amazed.
